Design Discovery, a Sycamore interior design firm, works on residential and commercial projects offering clients personalized solutions for restoration, renovation, interior redesign and new-home construction. Dee Schlagel, owner of Design Discovery, works with each client from concept to completion on each product.
The design team works with the architect, the home builder and the homeowner with the space planning on the initial drawing to the final placement of furniture and accessories.
Schlagel said she enjoys having the opportunity to work with homeowners to create spaces that complement their lifestyle.
“Throughout, the design process, careful attention is paid to the details of room layouts, cabinetry design, fabric choices, wall and floor coverings, countertops, hardware, custom furniture selections, upholstery, furniture restoration, artwork and all the decorative accessories,” she said.
Schlagel also offers an antique discovery service to assist antique collectors and homeowners to locate hard-to-find antique and architectural items such as period fireplace mantels, leaded glass windows and historic exterior and interior lighting. Through 20 years of working in the field of design, Schlagel has an extensive network consisting of a talented pool of artisans and antique dealers who specialize in period or traditional furniture and accessories. Schlagel said she locates the item, provides photographs, negotiates the price and makes arrangements to deliver the item to the client’s home.
